Early days… My father handed me a guitar and taught me the basics when I was just three years old. By the time I was in 12th standard I have already finished my 7th grade book. Being in Nagercoil and composing music… As far as I am concerned not only from Nagercoil but even sitting in Saathan Kulam (a small village in Tuticorin district of Tami l Nadu) its possible to compose music for Michael Jackson. The only thing you need is Internet and power connection.
Christians doesn’t show interest in learning Carnatic Music… We have family prayer in almost every Christian home. Children get their first Beat sense when we clap our hands while singing songs during these prayers. Later they start getting western inspiration. Thus, I think western atmosphere and not trying Carnatic music is the reason behind lack of interest in it.
Use of Fusion in Christian music… It’s a very good effort I think. We should appreciate it.
Quality Christian music… Hymns, I don’t think any kind of music could match its quality till now.
To become a music director… It’s comparatively easy to become an instrument player. For that all you need is good training. But it’s not like that for a musician. You need to have ‘Idea’ more than training to become a musician.
Less importance for pronunciation… I think it’s not right that people are not giving much importance for pronunciation in Christian albums. The main reason behind this is ignorance. Even most of the leading television channels in Tamil Nadu are not bothered about this fact. But we must seriously rectify it.
Arrangements & Tones… While composing music most of the musicians give more importance for ‘Tones’ instead of ‘Arrangements’. But you can’t succeed with ‘Tones’ alone; one needs give a good progression.
